PhD in Marine Sciences in Physical Oceanography from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Spain. He has worked in that area, in the Gulf of California, the Western Mediterranean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico. His line of research for nine years is oceanography of reef systems. He is a pioneer in the studies of oceanography in reef systems of the Gulf of Mexico.

The Lobos-Tuxpan Reef System (LTRS) in the northern coastal area, the Parque Nacional Sistema Arrecifal Veracruzano (PNSAV) in the central coastal area and the Los Tuxtlas Reef System (TRS) in the southern coastal area. Along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico and particularly along Veracruz’s coast, several physical oceanographic processes take place at different temporal and spatial scales, from periods of seconds to years and meters to several hundred kilometers.
